Ogni maledetto Natale (2014)

Massimo Marinelli and Giulia Colardo meet by chance in Rome and fall in love. Christmas is approaching, and Giulia asks Massimo to spend Christmas Eve with her family. At first reluctant, Massimo agrees and goes with her to her hometown in the Viterbo area, where the girl’s family turns out to be unimaginably crude and bizarre. The young man tries every way he can to fit in and interact with them, but eventually his discomfort shows, and Giulia, offended, throws him out. The next day, Giulia thinks over what happened and goes to Massimo’s house. At first, they seem to make things right, and then Giulia invites Massimo to spend Christmas with some friends at a mountain lodge. The young man’s family, wealthy businesspeople, are no less grotesque and agitated than Giulia’s relatives, especially after Christmas dinner is put at risk by the suicide of a Filipino servant. Once the difference in their social class has become apparent, the two young people seem unable to understand each other anymore and separate once again. Massimo, however, later joins Giulia at the mountain lodge, showing that true love fears no obstacle.
