Full plot (contains spoilers)

Jacopo Leone is one of the best couples’ counselors around, able to solve the problems of troubled couples with remarkable ease. The trouble is, his own love life is a disaster. Ever since he was a child, he has brought bad luck to every woman who has dated him: they all end up caught in bizarre, tragicomic accidents because of an old schoolmate of his, Simona, who cursed him after he cheated on her right in front of her. Now an adult, he does everything he can to avoid getting close to a woman and to stay single. One day he meets Sara, a charming architect, and falls in love with her instantly. She feels the same way, but will have to withstand all the misadventures and bad luck that befall her. At first she stays with Jacopo, but leaves him when she mistakes a CD containing a presentation of a church to be shown to the papacy for one of Jacopo’s pornographic CDs, which he gives to couples. Jacopo then goes to his parents’ home in the country for comfort, where he discovers that they—whose first counseling session he had conducted during a difficult time—have actually been separated for years and had pretended otherwise to please their son. Realizing that his whole life revolved around a lie, Jacopo decides to move to a Greek island with only seven inhabitants, all elderly men. Two hundred and eighty-five days later, while fishing, he meets a Danish boy. After taking him to his mother, Jacopo discovers that she is none other than Simona, from whom he had heard nothing for years. In disbelief, she lifts the curse. Simona explains that perhaps his romantic failures are also due to his inability to let himself go. Jacopo listens to the messages on his answering machine and discovers that Sara had changed her mind and wanted to be with him after all. He immediately sets off for Italy, and on his way to Sara’s house, an elderly neighbor tells him that the woman he is looking for is getting married. But when he goes to the church, he discovers it is not Sara, but her friend Sofia, who lives in the same apartment building. Jacopo and Sara get back together, get married, and have a daughter.
