Troppa grazia (2018)

Lucia is a surveyor trying to make ends meet through mapping and cadastral surveys. She is dealing with the end of her relationship with Arturo and her daughter Rosa’s adolescence. Paolo, a local businessman with ties to the municipal administration, entrusts her with mapping the area where “the Wave” is to be built, a grand construction project that will nonetheless distort the hilly landscape where Lucia grew up. Troubled by remorse over the irregular procedures involved in acquiring the land, Lucia meets a woman whom she identifies as the Madonna. The woman orders her to stop construction on the Wave and build a church there instead. Believing she has gone mad, Lucia refuses to heed her vision, but as time passes it becomes increasingly physical and insistent. The mystical encounter further upends Lucia’s life and ultimately leads her to embark on an inner journey in search of a truth that had always been “hidden in plain sight.”
