A strict pharmacist expects his seemingly proper eldest daughter to keep her two mischievous sisters in line, unaware she has just lost her nursing job.
The story
The three daughters of pharmacist Willibald Bumshäuptl are eager for romance, while their strict father is deeply concerned with their chastity and modesty. He even speaks out against what he sees as moral decline through a local society. He considers eldest daughter Elisabeth the most respectable and expects her to keep younger sisters Maria and Christl from getting carried away. But his view of Elisabeth is misplaced: she has just lost her nursing job after supposedly being unable to keep her hands off men. As her sisters get into mischief, the family’s competing ideas about propriety come into conflict.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Young and eager for love—that’s what the three wild, perpetually horny daughters of the pharmacist, a man with the telling name Willibald Bumshäuptl, are. Two of the girls in particular, Maria and Christl, are up to all kinds of mischief, even though Papa Willibald, a strict-minded member of the community, has always been scrupulously concerned with his children’s chastity and modesty. Bumshäuptl’s moral strictness goes so far that he speaks out against moral degradation and neglect in the local “Society Against Filth and Trash.” Only the eldest of the young women, Elisabeth, seems to be on the “right path” morally, as Papa Bumshäuptl sees it; she comes across as a real bluestocking. Willibald doesn’t know that she has just lost her job as a nurse because she supposedly couldn’t keep her hands off men. And so it seems like a cruel joke that Elisabeth is now the one expected to keep an eye on her younger sisters’ propriety, to stop them from getting too carried away. But Maria and Christl have already devised a plan to win Elisabeth over with potency pills that are supposed to drive men wild. The plan promptly backfires.
