Ferien mit Piroschka (1965)

Thomas Laurends, the son of a wealthy family, is horrified when his girlfriend Karin hints that she wants to get married at last. He hastily travels to Hungary, where, at his father’s request, he is to buy new horses for the family’s stud farm in Hamburg. He does not know that Karin has joined a tour group led by the aristocratic guide Alfi Trattenbach, which is also heading to Hungary. At a Hungarian stud farm, Thomas meets Tery, a young and beautiful woman, and falls in love with her. But he soon learns that Karin is in Hungary too. Meanwhile, Alfi Trattenbach is courting her. Thomas and Tery grow closer. At a village festival where the love story of Janosz and Tünde is acted out, Thomas and Tery are chosen to play the couple. Thomas has to identify Tery among several veiled women. He succeeds, and the two eventually spend the night together. The next morning, Thomas sees that Karin was also at the village festival and has written her address in lipstick on the window of his convertible. He goes to her and confesses that he has fallen in love with someone else. They part, saying goodbye with a kiss—which Tery happens to witness. Disappointed, she turns away from Thomas. Back at the stud farm, he has the horses shown to him and announces that he will return to Hamburg the next day. Horrified, Tery rides off on a horse, and Thomas follows her. He eventually catches up with her, and they lie together in the grass. He promises her that although he will leave, he will come back.
