Mi fido di te (2007)

Francesco Villa, a real estate agency manager, is fired and tries to hide it from his family, taking on menial jobs instead: in the morning he works as a gas station attendant, and in the afternoon he delivers water. At a bar, he meets Alessandro Besentini, a petty con artist who lives by his wits and is being hounded by loan sharks to whom he owes 500 euros. Francesco discovers he has a knack for scams and, together with Alessandro, pulls off increasingly sophisticated jobs. Their partnership, however, depends on their following one rule: their respective families must never meet. So, when Alessandro is found out by his friend’s wife, he is forced to stage a robbery against them, with the loan sharks playing the robbers. Francesco realizes he has been betrayed, and after an argument the two part ways. A year later, Francesco, who has found work as a manager, learns from his wife why Alessandro betrayed him; he then decides to stage one last scam against a colleague of his, a sycophant and impostor, and make sure that Alessandro eventually takes his place.
